Yamini Hingorani, principal of Yamini Designs, is a certified professional and award-winning interior designer. She is a six-time winner of the Excellence in Design Awards from the American Society of Interior Designers from both the Illinois and Indiana chapters. Her firm’s work has earned the Best of Houzz Award for nine consecutive years. The firm was also awarded high marks for their Vignette at the River North Design District (RNDD) Gallery Walk 2024.
FEATURED PROJECT: DESIGN FOR A MODERN FAMILY HOME IN CHICAGO’S NORTH SHORE
The clients for this project were two high-level executives who moved to a classic style home in the North Shore of Chicago with their three teenagers. After living there for four months and at a loss for what to do with most of the rooms, they sought help to define the purpose of each room and tailor the home to improve their quality of life. Our clients’ goal was to have a comfortable sanctuary where they could retreat after long workdays and to have a functional, durable home for their family of five. They also sought stylish spaces that accommodate friends and family. They specifically asked for a living room that felt like an upscale lounge, reminiscent of the luxe hotels they had visited. This room was soon dubbed “The Lounge.” They also requested more storage in the living room and primary bedroom including a multi-functional area for the wife’s yoga practice. The challenge was to turn the existing dark and cavernous rooms into uplifting, usable spaces.

YAMINI DESIGN CREATES A “SAFARI SOIREE” FOR THE RIVER NORTH DESIGN DISTRICT’S GALLERY WALK 2024
Yamini Designs was honored to be invited for the third time to create design vignettes for the 2024 River North Design District Gallery Walk benefiting Humble Design and Ryan Licht Sang Bipolar Foundation. This time around, we were asked to create the concept and the visuals for the highly attended Gallery Walk After Party, which was held at the Lightology showroom in Chicago. Yamini, in collaboration with Interiors By Francesca and Alma Art and Interiors designed spaces rich with color and texture evoking the mood of an electric forest. The “Safari Soriee” was celebrated with live drummers, bespoke cocktails, and came alive with art, design, and lighting that evoked the magic of the wild.
