Yamini Designs is happy to report that the 3rd Annual Carpets for a Cause benefit hosted by Oscar Isberian Rugs in late November raised more than $19,000 for Designs for Dignity, a Chicago-based organization that combines pro bono design and construction talent and in-kind donations to breathe new life into nonprofit spaces.

The event drew a huge crowd to celebrate and bid on the 15 rugs designed by Chicago interior designers, including Yamini Designs.

“My rug was an homage to my late father, an engineer and artist, who painted a landscape of a stream flowing through snow-covered trees when I was a child,” said Yamini. “I abstracted and recolored his wintry scene for today.”

The experts at Oscar Isberian helped Yamini through the process of designing her rug, which was then tufted by artisan weavers in Thailand.

“The experience gave me greater insight into the rug-making process and the options available,” she said. “I’m excited to show clients the beautiful colors, textures and designs that are possible for making a unique and distinctive floor covering.”
