Yamini Designs Curatorial Selection at Intersect Chicago
Yamini Hingorani was one of 14 top Chicago interior designers selected by the River North Design District to select a favorite work from the virtual art fair Intersect Chicago, which debuted the first week of November.
Intersect Chicago, which replaced the Chicago’s popular Sculpture Objects Functional Art and Design or SOFA, offered thousands of selections of art in glass, contemporary art, ceramic / craft, design, outside art, fiber art, and public art / sculpture. From its online site, the art fair also offered talks and events, all free to the public.
Yamini chose to highlight the sculpture Folds CXXXIX by Jeannine Marchand.
"Marchand's relief created with clay and powder coated steel depicts both sensual comfort and technical strength. It makes us wonder what lies beneath the folds of our lives," Yamini said. "Do we as a people seek the comfort of a folded sheet or the strength and stability of the structure beneath? Perhaps we seek both. As interior designers we occupy that space where art meets engineering to create lasting, beautiful design."
